HYDERABAD: A 32-year-old housewife was arrested on Wednesday since she allegedly killed and buried her husband’s dead body in their residential premises at Mansoorabad in Vanasthalipuram a few days ago. She kept the murder a secret for nearly a month.
Vanasthalipuram police said that a 38-year-old man Gagandeep Agarwal went missing on February 8. On February 24, Gagandeep’s wife Nausheen Begum alias Maryada Agarwal along with Gagandeep’s brother Akash Agarwal went to LB Nagar police station and lodged a missing complaint.
"As Gagandeep was inaccessible, his brother inquired with Nausheen, she said that the victim informed her that he is going to Delhi. But since Gagandeep became inaccessible on Akash’s insistence, she agreed to accompany him to LB Nagar police station, to lodge a missing complaint," Vanasthalipuram police said. Due to jurisdiction issues, the case was transferred to Vanasthalipuram.
According to police, Nausheen was questioned by police thrice in the last several days but police found several inconsistencies in what she told the investigators during the initial two rounds of questioning. Finally, when she was questioned on Wednesday, she confessed that she killed Gagandeep on February 8 and the dead body was buried in a pit inside their house.
"Actually, it was the victim who got the pit created a few days before he was killed, to take up some drainage works. Nausheen used the same pit to bury him. She claims that she did it alone without anyone's support," police said.
Officials said that Nausheen killed her husband using a knife since he allegedly misbehaved with her two daughters, which she had from her first marriage.
The accused claimed that on the day of murder, the victim consumed liquor along with his friend Sunil. ``We need to conduct further investigation, to know if there was any role of Sunil in the murder. She claimed that the murder took place after Sunil left their residence,’’ police said. Based on her confession, the victim’s body was exhumed and it was in decomposed condition. The couple, who knew each other for four years, got married last year. The accused has five children from her first marriage.
